How to Patch Test Your Skincare

How to Patch Test Your Skincare

Even thoughtfully formulated skincare can cause irritation or allergic reactions. Skin sensitivity varies from person to person, so we recommend testing any new product before introducing it into your routine.

How to patch test

  1. Choose a small area. Use clean, dry skin on the inner arm or inside the elbow.
  2. Apply a small amount. Use the product as directed, applying it to the same test area twice daily for 7–10 days.
  3. Follow the normal usage time. Leave moisturisers, oils and balms on the skin. For rinse-off products such as our Balancing Oil Cleanser, rinse after approximately five minutes or according to the product's directions.
  4. Observe your skin. Watch for redness, itching, swelling, burning or other signs of irritation.
  5. Introduce gradually. If no reaction develops, begin incorporating the product into your routine, introducing one new product at a time.

Important to know

A successful home patch test does not guarantee that a product will never cause a reaction.

If irritation develops, rinse off the product and discontinue use. Seek medical advice if symptoms are significant or persistent.

If you have a known ingredient allergy or a history of severe allergic reactions, consult your healthcare professional before using new skincare. Home patch testing is not a substitute for professional allergy testing.

Our philosophy: Thoughtful skincare starts with understanding your skin, respecting its individuality and choosing products with care.
